Juice Walking Group and the Sheffield Scanner Appeal

The Juice Walking Group are raising funds for the Sheffield Scanner Appeal by using their lunchtime walks to cover the 50-mile distance of The Big Walk 2017.

For over 2 years now Juice have offered a lunchtime walking group once a fortnight, taking a number of different routes from the University campus to various destinations such as the Botanical Gardens or the different parts of the city centre. As well as the health benefits of walking during the working day, the group also enjoy the social aspect of meeting new people from across the University.

The group are raising funds towards the University’s £2 million fundraising campaign for the Sheffield Scanner - a ground-breaking MRI-PET scanner facility, and the first of its kind in Yorkshire. The Sheffield Scanner will represent the next leap forward in medical and imaging research and have a crucial role for research and patients in many areas of medicine, including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases such as Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, heart disease, diabetes and stroke.

The Walking Group aim to cover an equivalent 50 mile distance of The Big Walk 2017 using their walks held fortnightly on Monday lunchtimes. You can show your support for this challenge by visiting the group JustGiving page where all funds raised will be donated to the Sheffield Scanner appeal.
